I've noticed recently that when turning on my AC, I can hear a squeeling coming from the engine bay. I'm pretty sure this is because the AC belt needs to be changed.

Can I just remove the belt in the meantime and drive aruond with no AC belt?

    yes..you can remove it.

If it's squeeling when you turn it on, it's come loose over time. check it for excessive wear and tighten it back up if it looks okay.

Have fun. Thats the one that requires disconnection of the motor mount to get off. I also pull the power steering pump loose, just to get it out of the way for installing and adjusting a new A/C belt.

I changed the belts two weeks ago. Now that my steel S/C idler pulley dosen't wear out, I've gotten almost 20k miles on the S/C and alt. belts.
